It all started at Quest, our young adults fellowship at Fellowship Bible Church. We were just friends at first, truly! Kaitlin worked at GameStop and quickly became my unofficial personal shopper. Whether it was the latest video games, collectibles, or even the impossible-to-find PS5 on launch day (yes, she actually made that happen), she always came through.

Somewhere between the pre-orders and pick-ups, I had this joking thought: Wait… is she my Player 2? It turns out, many of our friends had already been thinking the same thing.

Over time, our shared love for gaming, collecting memorabilia, and making each other laugh made it pretty clear that we were more than just a great co-op team.

Faith has been a major part of our journey. We love serving together at church, whether it is through the website ministry, helping out at events, or co-leading a Bible study. Growing spiritually side by side has been one of the greatest joys of our relationship.

Outside of church, we enjoy going on adventures together. You can usually find us gaming in our home office, with favorites like Monster Hunter, Pokémon, Pikmin, and Destiny. We also love trying new foods, laughing at too many Instagram reels, and sharing our favorite shows and movies with each other.

Kaitlin is a huge Disney fan, and she brings that magic to life every time we visit the Disney parks. She shares fun facts, park secrets, and loves stopping by the shops for exclusive pins and collectibles. One of her favorite things to do is visit the Animation Academy to learn how to draw classic Disney characters, and it’s been so fun watching her share that creative side. She always shows me a new way to experience the magic.

I am a lifelong Godzilla fan, and I’ve loved introducing her to the movies, inviting her to Godzilla-related events and conventions, and even introducing her to friends of mine who have worked on the films — including actors who suited up as Godzilla. In fact, we like to say that even Godzilla himself has rooted for our relationship to succeed. Apparently, he had hoped I would find a girlfriend someday — and I think he approves of this one.

Between her Disney devotion and my Godzilla obsession, our friends often joke about what our home will look like when our collections finally combine. We like to think it’ll be the perfect mix of magic and monster mayhem — and we’re okay with that.

As we join our lives together in marriage, our greatest goal is to serve God well. We want to support one another, grow in our faith, and live out His purpose for us with joy, grace, and plenty of time spent in co-op mode.

What started as a friendship, and maybe a few too many GameStop receipts, has become the greatest adventure of our lives.
